Do you charter often, or at least 2-3 times a year? Want to own a yacht but don’t have the time to take care of it? Then our Yacht Ownership programme is the next step to owning a yacht, worry-free!
With over 50 years of experience, The Moorings and Sunsail Yacht Ownership Programmes offer you the chance to own a yacht in some of the worlds most beautiful destinations, enjoying the use of your yacht for up to 12 weeks; a year on a worldwide basis with no hassle!
Our standard contracts typically last 5-6 seasons, and we’ll take care of all the management, maintenance, operating costs and docking fees. Our idyllic locations include the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, UK, Indian Ocean, Southeast Asia and the South Pacific. In addition, we offer the option of using equivalent sister ships or upgrading to a larger model!
We offer two excellent yacht purchase options to suit you.
Ownership Program #1 means you purchase the yacht at the start and receive guaranteed revenue each month to cover your part of your loan payment.
This contract runs for five seasons in the Caribbean or six seasons in the Mediterranean or Exotics. So you can keep your yacht and sail away at the end of your programme, sell your yacht through our in-house brokerage service or trade, and start a new programme.
Ownership Programme No2 means you pay 45% of the retail price of the yacht and receive no income during the programme. At the end of the programme, you can make a purchase payment of 20% and take the precise title of the yacht, or you can take a guaranteed cash buyback of 20% and walk away.
Our contracts allocate eighty-four points per year – 42 advanced booking points and 42 short notice points. In high season, 2 points equate to one-day sailing. In low season, 1 point equates to one-day sailing.
Let’s look at an example of how you could use your advanced booking points. You can use a maximum of 28 of these points in high season, so you may choose to sail for:
- Two weeks high season + 2 weeks low season
- One-week high season + 4 weeks low season
- OR
- Six weeks low season
Likewise, let’s look at an example of how you could use your short notice points. You may choose to sail for:
- Three weeks high season
- Two weeks high season + 2 weeks low season
- One-week high season + 4 weeks low season
- OR
- Six weeks low season
